Merritt Gardner Interiors is a full-service interior design studio creating layered, material-rich spaces with a sense of permanence and personality.
Our work begins with the architecture and builds from there — distinctive stone, beautiful millwork, nuanced finishes, sculptural lighting, collected furnishings and the unexpected details that give a space its identity.
Rather than designing toward a particular look, we design around the way a space should feel: considered but never contrived, elevated but deeply livable, and individual enough that it could belong nowhere else.

Material, proportion, texture, tone and architectural detail are considered as a whole, creating spaces that feel cohesive without feeling overly designed.
With experience spanning residential, hospitality and commercial design, our studio brings both a highly developed aesthetic perspective and a practical understanding of how beautiful ideas become beautifully executed spaces.

Hello there.
I'm Merritt Gardner.
Founder + Principal Designer
I’ve spent more than a decade designing interiors across residential, hospitality and commercial spaces, but the part of design I’ve always been most drawn to is the moment a space begins to develop its character.
The stone. The millwork. The perfect metal finish. The unexpected material combination. The tiny detail that changes the entire room.
My background in Interior Architecture shaped the way I see a space: not as a collection of beautiful objects, but as a composition. Architecture, materials, furnishings and the way people actually live all have to speak the same language.
That perspective has become the foundation of Merritt Gardner Interiors.
My work is warm, layered and highly considered, often balancing natural materials and quieter foundations with something a little unexpected. I’m less interested in following a recognizable design formula and much more interested in creating spaces with their own identity.
Because ultimately, I don't want someone to walk into your home and immediately recognize my work.
I want them to know that your home could only belong to you.
And when I'm not obsessing over a stone slab, moving something two inches to the left, or falling down a rabbit hole in search of the exact right piece, I'm usually with my daughter, Pippa — who has very strong opinions of her own.
